The European Next Generation funds, aimed at economic recovery after the pandemic, "are not reaching companies." This was warned this Monday by the president of the Canary Islands Confederation of Entrepreneurs (CCE), Pedro Ortega.
Ortega has insisted that "the flow of money from Brussels to companies has to be expedited" and has claimed "the need to talk to entrepreneurs in the Canary Islands to generate wealth and employment", while stressing the "respect" that, in his opinion, this group deserves "for their work to improve the Canary Islands".
Ortega made these statements before meeting with the general secretary of CC, Fernando Clavijo, to address the economic situation of the islands, the REF and the position of the nationalists in the general state budgets and the accounts of the autonomous community for 2023.
The head of the CCE, explained that Monday's meeting with the CC candidates for the Presidency of the Canary Government, the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Parliament for Las Palmas, Fernando Clavijo, María Fernández and Pablo Rodríguez, has also served to underline the need to deepen public-private collaboration, "in all its breadth, to improve governance and thus transform the Canary Islands" from "digitalization, sustainability and a more inclusive, cohesive, intelligent and resilient economy".
For Pedro Ortega, it is necessary to improve this public-private collaboration because "it is the necessary instrument for the transformation of this society", and, in his opinion, "that should be done from respect and listening to the parties".
In this way, the manager of Pastas La Isleña has criticized that "the business sector is being marked as responsible for many things, and is responsible for the generation of wealth and employment".
"I say this because many times unilateral decisions are made, such as taking out certain taxes, in the areas of the Administration and the business community is not taken into account," he asserted.
