Lanzarote's gastronomy has received a new recognition in the mecca of national haute cuisine, the Sun of the Repsol Guide, thanks to Kamezí Deli & Bistró.

The Playa Blanca restaurant stands out in just two years since its opening as a gastronomic reference, with its inclusion in the Michelin Guide or its publication in Apicius magazine, the most important publication in the haute cuisine sector.

At the awards ceremony, held at the Victoria Eugenia Theater in San Sebastián, the Repsol suns for the Isla de Lobos and El Risco restaurants were also revalidated, respectively.

The Playa Blanca restaurant, located in the Kamezí Boutique Villas tourist complex, is a space conceived by the Eguren Kertudo family where architecture and gastronomy pay homage to the island of Lanzarote, its landscape, and its traditions.

The gastronomic project revolves around local products from the island and the appreciation of the work of Lanzarote's producers. According to Koldo Eguren, the driving force behind the project, "it is our way of giving back to the island everything it offers us, which is why we have always been very loyal to our commitment from the beginning."

Gastronomic proposal

The award-winning restaurant is the first establishment in Lanzarote to offer its diners only two tasting menus, since, according to the owner, "Although it was a risky proposal, we decided to remove the menu because we wanted to offer a complete experience."

The two culinary experiences, of 9 and 12 dishes respectively, are the result of the creative proposal of a kitchen team that in each dish connects innovation, tradition, and the essence of Lanzarote's product, the main protagonist in the menus that come out of the kitchens of Kamezí Deli & Bistró.

A local cuisine that closely watches its sea, with dishes based on local fish such as sama, vieja, or La Santa shrimp, or its land, with the usual meats of the island such as rabbit or goat. Without forgetting typical local dishes such as pork ribs, cabbage, and pineapple, which have been reinterpreted without losing the essence of the flavor.

Local experience

The connection with Lanzarote does not end in the gastronomic proposal, since the wines of the islands are the main protagonists in the different pairing proposals offered by the sommelier, responsible for the carefully curated cellar of Kamezí Deli & Bistró.

The restaurant also has at its main entrance a gourmet market of local products and its own interior garden that supplies the kitchen with aromatic herbs and fresh products for its culinary creations, among which its sourdough breads are elevated to the altar of haute cuisine, made daily in its own wood-fired oven with high-quality flours.
And nothing is more local than serving the tasting menus on its own tableware made entirely by hand in the Kamezí art workshop. One more detail of all those offered in the experience by a room team coordinated to give the best service.

Unique space

The architectural project of Kamezí Deli & Bistró is an innovative reinterpretation of traditional Lanzarote architecture and a tribute to the work and legacy of the artist César Manrique. The restaurant is located on the coast of Playa Blanca, with a terrace where you can enjoy privileged views of the sea and the island of Fuerteventura.

Looking to the future with hope

Since its inauguration in December 2019, the restaurant team has had to consolidate the project in a context of great difficulties caused by the consequences of the pandemic.

Therefore, the newly obtained Repsol sun is a boost to the passion and commitment necessary to consolidate the project and look to the future with hope. In a year in which Kamezí Deli & Bistró is also premiering its presence in the Michelin Guide.
