Hospiten Group expands its Neurosurgery service at Hospiten Lanzarote by incorporating a new minimally invasive and endoscopic spine surgery unit. Dr. Carlos Valencia, an expert in this type of surgery, joins the current team. This new expansion aims to provide a more thorough follow-up of the various pathologies, and to dedicate more direct, rapid and effective attention.

The launch of this Unit will allow patients with pathologies related to Neurosurgery to be operated on with minimally invasive surgery, which allows for less aggressive procedures and treats elderly people, cancer patients and those with pre-existing diseases, minimizing risk as much as possible. It is a minimally invasive treatment that is carried out by making a small incision. Thanks to this technique, traditional surgery is avoided, which is performed with a microscope and whose incision can reach 5 or 7 centimeters. In this way, the recovery time and the stay in the hospital of the users will be shorter, in addition to reducing pain, discomfort, the chances of infection and scars.

The pathologies that are usually treated with minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery are: cervical disc herniation, lumbar and cervical canal stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis and synovial cysts. These endoscopic techniques involve a more comfortable postoperative period and a lower surgical risk.

The specialist Carlos Valencia considers that patients who require this type of surgery can be treated at Hospiten Lanzarote and will not have to travel to hospital centers on other islands. "We work to guarantee a more complete service, which is coordinated with the rest of the center's areas. In this sense, we are going to collaborate with the Traumatology or Rehabilitation Service, in order to guarantee multidisciplinary care for patients."

Consultations will be provided in person at Hospiten Lanzarote or by video call. Through this platform, the security of information is guaranteed, since it is integrated into the Hospiten appointment process, guaranteeing secure communication between professionals and patients, complying with the highest level of protection.
