Torres announces that the Canary Islands are beginning to flatten the Covid curve with 54 positives per 100,000 inhabitants

The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has admitted to being "very unhappy" with the use of masks in family environments, as he has stated that the "problem" lies mainly in private meetings and parties.

Torres has stressed that in the Canary Islands the mask "is mandatory, not when you are less than 1.5 meters away", and has acknowledged that "that is the problem", that it is not being complied with. Hence, he explained that during the past weekend mechanisms were activated to encourage surveillance in order to have a final diagnosis.

After that diagnosis, he pointed out during an interview on a Canary Islands radio station collected by Europa Press, "they" do not like what they have seen.

Finally, the president of the regional executive has stated that the Canary Islands has a "health protocol that works" against the coronavirus, with ratios "above 20 people per positive", to which he added that there is a stock for at least three months because an "extremely important" acquisition of material was made.
