The number of accumulated cases of coronavirus in the Canary Islands now rises to 1,444, after 64 more positives were confirmed during Wednesday. In addition, there have been six new deaths, leaving a total of 68 since the beginning of this crisis.

These data advanced by the Ministry of Health at the end of each day do not include the detail by islands, which is made public the following day. According to the latest detailed report, until Tuesday night Tenerife concentrated 59.8% of the positive coronavirus cases confirmed in the Canary Islands, accumulating 826 cases, and also 66% of the deaths. As for Gran Canaria, until the previous day it had accumulated 384 cases and 15 deaths.

Regarding Lanzarote, the latest data released early this Wednesday placed the cases at 59, eight more than the previous day. Of those hospitalized on the island until Tuesday night, 13 were on the ward and eight in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In this regard, it should be remembered that the Molina Orosa Hospital decided this Tuesday to expand its ICU beds, adding eight to the 10 it already had, and having planned to enable up to a total of 40 if necessary.

Of the 1,380 cases of coronavirus accumulated in the Canary Islands, 532 people have required hospitalization and 110 have needed to do so in the ICU. In addition, the latest statistics reflected a number of 77 people discharged. As for the number of health workers affected by coronavirus in the Canary Islands, on Tuesday it already amounted to 277.
