The Ministry of Health informs that this Friday the implementation of the Covid certificate in the Canary Islands will come into effect, under the modality of voluntary use, for all sectors that are subject to capacity or time restrictions. The measure, which last week was ratified by the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), comes into effect after its publication this Thursday in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC).

Its initial validity will be until January 10, a period during which it "will be subject to monitoring and evaluation." Afterwards, an extension of this period of time may be requested "if it is deemed necessary."

For the implementation of this measure, the Canarian Health Service has made available to citizens the web app www.lectorcovid.com, accessible for mobile devices, which facilitates the reading of the QR code of the EU Digital Covid Certificate. "It is easy to use in order for the measure to be effective," they emphasize from the Canarian Government.

In addition, in the coming days it can be downloaded from the Apple Store, Google Play and Huawei App Gallery.

Capacities and schedules

The measure establishes that in centers, facilities, activities or spaces for public use whose managers voluntarily choose to require accreditation to their workers and users, over 12 years and 3 months, the capacities, number of people per group and closing times in force at each moment for each activity and space in the alert level immediately below the existing one in the corresponding island will be applicable.

In the event that the existing alert level is 1, as is currently the case in Lanzarote, the limitations on capacity, number of people per group and closing times in force at each moment for said level will not be applicable.

Voluntary accreditation of the absence of active infection will be carried out by displaying an official certificate of having received the complete vaccination schedule against Covid-19, from 14 days after the date of administration of the last dose of the complete vaccination schedule, or by proving to have passed the disease. You can also display the negative result of a diagnostic test for active Covid-19 infection, carried out in a legally authorized laboratory with a maximum advance of 48 hours, self-diagnosis tests not being admissible.

"The supervision of compliance with the measure, which has the support of the business confederations of both provinces, is subject to the inspection activity of Public Health and the State Security Forces and Corps," they point out from the Ministry.
