The number of coronavirus infections between 0 and 80 years old has grown in the Canary Islands by 654 positive cases in the week between August 10 and 16 that has just ended, with 68.3 percent of these occurring between the ages of 20 and 49.
This is clear from the data that the Canary Islands Ministry of Health publishes daily on its website and that Europa Press analyzes, and it can be concluded that in the three age groups that are counted between 20 and 49 years add a total of 447 new positives in the last seven days.
This analysis shows an increase of 209 positives in Canary Islanders between 20 and 29 years old, from 420 cases on August 10 to 629 on Sunday, August 16, with this group continuing to have the most infections.
Following this are the age groups of between 30 and 39 years, and between 40 and 49 years, where the increase is 119 positives in each in the last seven days, although the 40 to 49 age group is the second highest in terms of cases, ending Sunday, August 16 with 616 positives, while people aged 30 to 39 end the week with 585 infections.
Infections in other age groups
On the other hand, the age group between 50 and 59 years increases by 66 cases, ending the last week with 502 positives, while among people between 10 and 19 years it grows by 60 positives and ends August 16 with 173 infected.
In number of cases and increase of the same follows the age group of between 60 and 69 years where it grows in 39 positives, concluding the week with 436 positives.
As far as the growth of cases is concerned, it is followed by children between 0 and 9 years old where they increase by 21, ending the week between August 10 and 16 with 42 positives.
Finally, in the age groups of between 70 and 79 years, and over 80 years, there are 12 and 9 more cases, respectively, ending the week with 346 positives in people between 70 and 79 years, and with 282 in those over 80 years.
So far, the archipelago has a total of 3,613 cases of coronavirus, of which 1,025 are active positives. Of these, six people are in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while 47 are hospitalized and 972 are at home. In addition, the Canary Islands has recorded 165 deaths, while 2,423 people have been discharged from hospital.
Finally, the Canary Islands has performed 208,758 PCR tests, of which 5,384 have tested positive in the period of crisis due to the coronavirus pandemic.
