Storm Therese: The Canarian Government recommends its employees telework on five islands this Thursday

This situation will affect the workers of the islands of La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera, Tenerife and Gran Canaria

The Government of the Canary Islands announced this Thursday that it recommends public administration employees on five islands of the archipelago to telework this Thursday due to the impact of storm Therese. These islands are La Palma, El Hierro, La Gomera, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

This decision has been taken based on the warnings from the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) and the General Directorate of Emergencies of the Canarian Government, which recommends reduce mobility in the areas that will be most affected. 

In this way, the services, centers, and administrative units belonging to the General Administration of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands will be affected by this recommendation. Excluded, governed by the official communications made by the competent bodies in each case, are: Non-university educational centers; Health and social-health care centers; General Corps of the Canarian Police and Administration of Justice.

In case of attending the workplace in person, the Canarian Government recommends not to carry out work in places where damage may occur derived from the risks linked to meteorological phenomena.

In addition, the registry offices will remain closed without prejudice to the measures that must be adopted in the matter of administrative deadlines.
