The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands has agreed this Wednesday with the Canary Islands Federation of Municipalities (Fecam) that the municipalities will send the program of events for Christmas with a definition of their formats and contingency plans during this week to evaluate them.
This was decided during the meeting held by representatives of both parties to analyze the existing possibilities for holding Christmas events and will meet again next Wednesday to define how to hold the events, always under the parameters of health security, according to the regional Executive in a press release.
The objective of the Ministry of Health, it explains, is focused on a unit of criteria based on the epidemiological situation in which the islands are located in order to hold the planned events safely, avoiding risks of transmission of Covid-19. In this context, they specify, "no event has been delimited", pending the evaluation of the municipal proposals.
It also adds that the autonomous communities are awaiting the decisions to be adopted in this regard by the Interterritorial Council and it is hoped that they will be able to satisfy the demand of the population.
Finally, they recall that the child population is the protagonist of the Christmas holidays, although children under 12 years of age are the least protected against Covid-19 because they have not yet been able to access vaccination against the coronavirus.
