The Government of the Canary Islands and the hotel associations have agreed this Wednesday that in the islands with level 3 of epidemiological alert, the interior of bars and entertainment venues can open to 50% capacity and with at least 10% of customers vaccinated.

This was announced by the President of the Executive, Ángel Víctor Torres, upon leaving the meeting of the technical table with the sector, the Cabildo of Teneirfe and the Fecam, in which it was also agreed that on the terraces the capacity will be 75% and the closing time is set at 00:00 hours, both the same as in level 2, in which only Lanzarote is currently located. As for the interior, the tables will be for four diners or six if the people are vaccinated.

Torres also said that the hoteliers have committed to extreme health measures in catering establishments at level 3 and to register the names of customers in order to carry out monitoring and tracking work if there are infections.

In that line, he commented that the hoteliers are committed to sending the names to Public Health and pointed out that "whoever does not do so" will be sanctioned, because the situation is "worrying", with an increase in infections on almost all the islands.

In addition, he said that the hoteliers will be in charge of ensuring that customers are in possession of the vaccination certificate.

Likewise, the president has announced that there will be "maximum surveillance" by all security forces to do an "exhaustive job" in all areas at risk of contagion. "We have to turn the situation around as soon as possible," he warned.

Torres, who pointed out that the decision will have to be ratified this Thursday in the Governing Council, pointed out that there has been a "long debate with different positions", but in which both parties have understood that the situation in Tenerife is "worrying", because it also risks countries that send tourists removing the archipelago from the list of safe destinations.

"Fewer tools" for control

The president understands that "we must find solutions" to the judicial failures -the last one known this Tuesday, provisionally annulling the restrictions on hospitality at level 3- because "there is concern to bend the curve" of infections, and the hospitality sector itself "understands it".

In that line, he indicated that the control of the pandemic "is everyone's job" but he does not hide that the Executive now has "fewer tools" without a state of alarm or curfew.

Thus, he commented, for example, that "bottle parties have to be persecuted" and increase the social responsibility "of everyone", since there is a more youthful sector of the population that is not vaccinated and is being the most affected by infections.
