The National Police have arrested fifteen people in Albacete, Badajoz, Barcelona, Las Palmas, Madrid, Málaga, Murcia, Orense and Santa Cruz de Tenerife for distributing child sexual abuse material through Twitter, the Headquarters reported in a statement.
Among those arrested is a buyer of extremely harsh pedophile material, whose images and videos were mostly starring babies sexually assaulted in a sadistic manner and through practices of zoophilia. During the operation, two minors have been identified.
The investigations began when the National Police received, through the United States Embassy in Spain, information from the international organization National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) for the alleged commission of a crime of distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material through the Internet carried out in Spain.
It was the company Twitter who reported through this organization that several of its users had published audiovisual material of child sexual exploitation on their accounts. They were immediately blocked and the account of the users who had published this content was deleted.
After an exhaustive analysis of the complaints by the investigators, the full identification of 21 connections managed by Internet access providers (ISPs) located in Spain was achieved, from which illegal material was shared through this social network.
With all this information, fifteen people were arrested. Of these, four were arrested in the province of Barcelona, three in Madrid, two in Málaga, and one in Albacete, Badajoz, Las Palmas, Murcia, Orense and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In the course of one of the searches carried out in the province of Barcelona, it was found that the detainee, in addition to distributing illegal material through social networks, was carrying out an intense search activity on the network for pre-pubescent child pornography material.
During the house search, different directories were located, some hidden, which contained exclusively very harsh images starring very young children, mostly babies.
During the operation, agents have seized 19 mobile phones, fourteen laptops, six hard drives, four memories, three tablets, one memory card and three DVD/CDs.
The National Police reminds users of any social network of the importance of not sharing or saving this type of images of minors, as they would be committing a crime. For this, there is the possibility of reporting the content on the social network itself or to the National Police, through the email denuncias.pornografia.infantil@policia.es.
