The residents of Los Valles in Teguise have denounced the "incessant" water cuts by Canal Gestión, the company in charge of managing the supply on the island, "while the hotels fill the pools." In this sense, citizens of the town have stated that "they have been without water for more than a week" in their homes. This has also been communicated by Canal Gestión on its website, where it is stated that they will not have supply this Monday either.
"We are facing a third-world situation, in which we are paying for a service that is not being given to us or, if you want to see it optimistically, they are giving it to us in dribs and drabs (for more fun of the matter," they added.
After suffering these cuts continuously, the residents have decided to call Canal Gestión "several times." During these calls they have communicated that the company that manages the privatization of water "has hung up on them several times" and that they have commented, "without prior notice, that they will only be able to supply water to the town on Mondays, due to the supposed drought."
These citizens have stated that they have had to insist in order to obtain this information. "This information has come because we have looked for it, we have had to beg for said information and it has been given in a bad way," they pointed out.
Thus, they have stated that throughout the weekend they have been without water, "without being able to wash clothes, without being able to bathe, for fear that we will be completely without a water reserve that may be necessary for another major cause." In addition, they have not been able to water and have complained that "the best way to promote agriculture is by taking away the possibility for farmers to water."
"This is third world, while the hotels fill their pools and jacuzzis, we have to count the drops of water so as not to waste it. We not only want solutions, we want to be heard, to know the situation that is lived in this town, as well as in so many others on this island," they continued.
