One of the plots that served as parking in Arrecife has been closed by the property, generating a complicated situation for many people who left their vehicles there. And the land is located in a strategic area, between Vía Medular and the streets Triana, Doctor Barraquer and Timanfaya, where parking alternatives are scarce.
"This land, due to its proximity to the César Manrique, Las Maretas, Centro FP Zonzamas and Colegio Capellanía institutes, has been offering an invaluable service by allowing its use as a parking space for vehicles for parents, relatives of students, teachers and other users," says a neighbor, Manuel Clar Fernández, who wanted to warn of the "problem" that may be coming.
"This circumstance becomes worrying from the next day set for the start of school activity in the centers of the area, particularly at the times of entry and exit of students," he emphasizes.
In his opinion, "the closure of the plot would be justified if the owner of the same had the immediate project to urbanize it underway, with the consequent deployment and movement of machinery and vehicles, but, given the time elapsed since its closure, until the present moment, it does not seem that the decision adopted for its closure could be justified, unless there are other motivations."

"To better understand the problem that is coming with the closure of that plot, let's imagine this situation: It is the time for students to leave school. There goes the mother of a child with her vehicle ready to pick him up. She does it with haste, preventing the problem that is coming. There is no space to park, being forced to do so in double row. This behavior is imitated by other parents. Result: the useful space of the road for other vehicles to circulate is worryingly reduced, hindering or preventing the passage. The bus cannot circulate and a monumental traffic jam originates," he points out as an example.
With it, he affirms that he intends that the City Council "mediate with the property to achieve the opening of the plot" and, "if not possible", that the City Council look for "formulas to achieve the fluidity of traffic in the streets adjacent to the schools, especially during the entry and exit hours of the students."
