French tourism to Lanzarote continues to grow, and in such a way that, so far this year, it has surpassed the national market, something that has never happened before in the history of the island.

Last year, 235,000 tourists arrived from French airports, an annual record of arrivals from France in the history of Lanzarote. But it is a new phenomenon, ten years ago, in 2014, just over 81,000 people arrived on the island from France. 25 years ago, it was 24,000 people a year.

This dizzying growth of tourism from France since the end of the pandemic has intensified in the first four months of 2025. So much so that more tourists have arrived from France than from national airports.

Between January and April, 86,067 tourists arrived in Lanzarote from French airports, while arrivals from airports in Spain remained at 83,056 people.

The numbers are very similar at present in the two markets. In January, national tourism (21,564 people) beat French tourism (17,946), while in February the tables turned with 24,909 French and 17,061 Spaniards.

In March there were more French (24,909) than nationals (20,901), and in April, again the opposite: 23,530 Spaniards compared to 19,334 Gauls.
