Fifty-seven outstanding archers from the Islands were at the Yaiza municipal soccer field last weekend as protagonists in the Canary Islands Outdoor Archery Championship, another sports promotion event organized by the Yaiza City Council and the La Flecha Sports Club, chaired by Stefan Weiand, a person very committed to archery who has found an ally in Yaiza to promote this sports discipline.

The organization highlights "the sporting level and enthusiasm of both the archers and the fans", but also values "the participation of 14 Canary Islands judges who practiced in the competition, which was valid for their national judge course," it states. The championship held in Yaiza is approved by the Royal Spanish Archery Federation.

Last April, the municipality, at the Playa Blanca soccer field, hosted another Canary Islands championship, on that occasion, in the outdoor flint modality, also attended by about fifty island archers, some of them with recognized European status.

Óscar Noda and the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, thank the sports family "for their trust in the Administration with the commitment to keep the interest in archery alive through the visibility of events such as those held in the municipality during the last months."
