Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen was defeated this Saturday at the IDM Fuensanta in Córdoba against the local team Rahi-Sepisur Córdoba (30-22) in a match corresponding to the first day of the Women's Gold Honor Division.
Debut with defeat for the Tiñoseras in a match in which they started very well, they were ahead on the Córdoba scoreboard until almost reaching halftime (10-10). In the last ten minutes of the first half, the Tiñosero team seized up the engine, reaching the end of the first half three points down after a five-to-two partial against them (15-12).
After the break, things were not going to improve and the Andalusians accelerated again in the first section of the second half (21-15, min. 40). The gold and black team tried, but ran out of options at the end of the match after exchanging several partials with the locals.
The local Inmaculada García-Navas became the top scorer of the match with ten goals. In the Lanzarote ranks, Delyne Leiva was the most successful in the offensive section with eight goals.
For the Tiñosero coach, Jesús Casanova, the team “started quite well, quite plugged in, a little bit what we had planned. We defended quite well, anticipating Adesal's options and coming out with quick counterattacks, we achieved an important advantage 1-5. But, from that moment on, things didn't go well and, even so, we held on throughout the first half. The first half was quite good. What happens is that it is a physically superior team to us, people with height, shooting, with weight, very complicated, very complicated to stop. In the end we paid for the entire disaster of the match, but very happy with the team's attitude, the game and, except for the last ten minutes, where we completely collapsed, where we gave a poor image, but the first fifty minutes quite happy with the situation, with the attitude and with the team's game.”
Jesús Casanova's team will play its first home game of the season on the second day of the Women's Gold Honor Division next Saturday, October 4, at 8:00 p.m. with the visit of Caja Rural Cleba. The León team has started the season with a victory against AD Carballal (42-36).
