UD Lanzarote achieved an important victory against UD Tijarafe, a result that allows them to snatch the lead from UD Las Palmas Atlético. The red and whites comfortably defeated a team from La Palma that did not put up a fight at any time. Ayoze Pérez and Ángel Gil were the scorers. The second half of the match was unnecessary and the two teams offered a boring spectacle.
The first minutes of the match were even, with two teams fighting to take control of the ball in the midfield. The first warnings were given by Tijarafe. Manzi controlled a ball with his chest inside the area, passed to Diego Tachín and his shot went over the crossbar. And minutes later, Albi tried his luck from the center of the field, the ball going wide.
As the minutes passed, UD Lanzarote took control of the game. The red and whites began to triangulate in the center of the field in search of gaps in the defense from La Palma and above all opened the field on the flanks. As a result of this dominance, the goal that opened the scoring arrived. After a series of rebounds inside the area, Ayoze Pérez sent the ball into the back of the net with an empty goal.
The locals could have increased the differences in the 39th minute of the first half. Goalkeeper Adonay ran over striker Toñito and the referee signaled the maximum penalty. Jotha did not take advantage of the penalty kick and Adonay guessed the trajectory of the ball, stopping the shot next to one of the posts.
The sentence would come when two minutes had passed over the regulation time. A cross-shot from Ángel Gil from the right wing, surpassed goalkeeper Adonay in height and ended up sneaking into the goal. With the 2-0 the first 45 minutes of the match would come to an end.
The second half of the match began with the dominance of UD Lanzarote. The red and whites tried to give speed to their game and approached Adonay's domains with danger. A free kick executed by Jotha was headed by Javi Betancort and the ball went licking the base of the post of the goal defended by Adonay.
UD Lanzarote was infected by the slow pace of Tijarafe and the match became soporific as the minutes passed. Tijarafe gave up the attack and barely put up a fight against the red and whites. And the locals, seeing that the result was not in danger, saw them coming without pressing the accelerator.
Little to highlight in this second part and with the 2-0 the match would come to an end. A triumph that allows UD Lanzarote to regain the first place in the standings in the Third Division and be one point ahead of UD Las Palmas Atlético. The red and whites visit Raqui San Isidro next week, a team that is fighting to get out of the relegation zone.
