UD Lanzarote achieved a bittersweet draw against UD Guía on Wednesday afternoon, with the feeling of leaving two points on the road by not being able to seal the match in the second half. The Rojillos played with one player less
from the 27th minute of the first half, due to the expulsion of central defender Matheus with a red card.
UD Lanzarote lacked tranquility for many minutes of the first half, being very rushed in their actions and not being able to realize their superiority on the field. Around the half-hour mark, Matheus inexplicably reproached a rival for an action, with the referee showing him the red card.
After several minutes of uncertainty on the field, the Rojillos went to the break with an advantage on the scoreboard. Ayoze Pérez was in charge of executing a free kick on the three-quarter line, central defender Josua won the game against the
defenders and, anticipating the goalkeeper, headed the ball into the back of the net.
In the second half, UD Lanzarote had two clear chances to seal the match. In the 52nd minute, Giovanni stood alone inside the area, and in the one-on-one with Primo, he sent the ball wide. Minutes later, Giovanni
started at speed from his own half, passed to Keita, and the crossed shot went wide.
The locals began to feel the fatigue of playing more than an hour with one player less, and with four minutes remaining, the equalizer arrived. After winning the end line on the left side, Melo headed the cross to beat Alejandro.
The match concluded with the draw, with UD Lanzarote adding a point that leaves a bad taste in their mouth due to the way the match unfolded. Next Saturday, a new revalidation, visiting Unión Viera at the Alfonso Silva in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria starting at 11:00.
