The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife hosts the International Optimist President's Trophy Regatta

The International Optimist President's Trophy Regatta, where over 100 sailors from 17 countries will gather

Lanzarote will become the epicenter of the international Optimist with the celebration of the first edition of the International Optimist President's Trophy Regatta, organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife (RCNA) and Atlantis Academy. The event will take place from February 21 to 23, and will feature the participation of more than 100 sailors from 17 countries.

Prior to the competition, young sailors have had the opportunity to participate in an exclusive training clinic, which will serve to perfect their skills and adapt to the sailing conditions.

The regatta will bring together promising talents from the light sailing, representing countries such as Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Finland, France, Great Britain, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Holland, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Turkey, the United States and Spain.

This event, which promises to become a reference within the international circuit of the Optimist class, seeks to promote competitiveness and sports exchange between young sailors from around the world. In addition, Lanzarote, with its privileged climate and unbeatable conditions for sailing, reinforces its position as one of the most important nautical destinations in Europe.

The presentation ceremony was attended by the President of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, the Sports Council of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, headed by its Councilor Juan Monzón, as well as authorities from the Tourism and Sports Council of the Arrecife City Council, who have highlighted the importance of this event to consolidate the city as the capital of sports in the Canary Islands.

The President of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife highlights the event for its sporting and tourist interest with the participation of 17 countries. He thanks the collaboration of the different institutions and companies that help us promote the island of Lanzarote as a sailing destination internationally, highlighting the climate and regatta field in the center of the city

From the Tourism and Sports Council of Arrecife, Eli Merino has reaffirmed her commitment to this type of initiatives that position the city in the epicenter of sports and promote sailing among the youngest.

The International Optimist President's Trophy Regatta will not only be a key event for athletes, but will also attract the attention of coaches, families and sailing enthusiasts, generating a positive impact both in the sports field and in local tourism.

Juan Monzón wanted to emphasize: "From the Island Sports Service we will continue to promote the practice of nautical sports, even more so if it is young people who are the value of our future."

This event is organized by the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife and Atlantis Academy is sponsored by the Cabildo de Lanzarote through the Island Sports Service, the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers, the Arrecife City Council, Renault Juan Toledo.
