More than 100 athletes have registered to participate in the 9th edition of the César Manrique Trophy for the Optimist class, which will be held on Saturday, February 3 and Sunday, February 4.
The event was presented at the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife in an act presided over by Julio Romero, being accompanied by the representatives of the sponsors Enrique Plata Rocío and Enrique Sánchez Sánchez.
The event to be held in the waters of Arrecife is a qualifying event to form the Canarian team that will represent us in the Championship and the Spanish Cup 2024.
Gran Canaria with 41 athletes makes the largest contribution, of which 30 are from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria and 11 from the Club Marítimo Varadero. Tenerife does so with 16 from the RCN Tenerife and 6 from the CM Radazul. The RCN of San Sebastián has registered with 6 sailors, to which is added a Norwegian athlete. The representation from Lanzarote is in charge of CD Código Cero (Puerto Calero) with 13, CR 4 Vientos (Playa Blanca) with 6 and the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife as organizer with 20 registered.
The meteorology is announced favorable for the practice of sailing with winds of 12 to 15 knots of direction E. The 9th César Manrique Trophy closes on Sunday, February 4 at 2:30 p.m. with the awards ceremony.
