The start of the race took place in front of the Puerto Calero dike at twenty past eleven on Thursday morning, and at that time a very good wind was blowing. The first windward leg was made to a buoy that was located one and a half miles from the starting point. From there, they returned to the initial point to head towards Los Ancones (CFosta Teguise). At that moment, the wind shifted to the E, remaining at all times in conditions conducive to carrying out the regatta.
On the way to Los Ancones, upon reaching Arrecife, the "Anonymous" was first, followed very closely by the Portuguese boat "Bigamist". The arrival at Los Ancones was made with a wind of 15 knots and from there a closed stern was undertaken to a buoy called Arrecife 2 that was located in front of the airport. From this buoy they returned to the first buoy in front of the Arrecife Yacht Club. From this buoy the road to the finish line in front of Puerto Calero began, where the Italian boat, skippered by Alessandro Paoli, was proclaimed the winner, taking a difference of just over a minute from the Austrian boat "Aspecta C. Quadrat Astro".
The performance of the Spanish teams did not go unnoticed throughout the test. The most notable thing about the Spanish representation was the duel that existed between the two of them at the beginning of the regatta, since little by little the "Tau Cerámica - Hugo Boss" was gaining a considerable advantage over the Spanish Navy boat, "Aifos".
The impression that the members of these five crews took away was very good, stating that they had had a very good day and greatly enjoyed the test, and they described it as a success, beautiful and with a perfect wind.
At three in the afternoon, the booths in the Plaza de las Carpas located in front of the Puerto Calero offices were opened, where throughout these days the sponsors and collaborators will exhibit their products and also offer samples of them to the attendees, such as the El Grifo booth that will delight with a tasting of Canarian wines or a cocktail served by the Amura Restaurant.
