In the regular phase of the cadet competition, the CL Unión Sur Yaiza cadets proved to be the best, a supremacy that they would have to confirm during the final phase of the competition. As a preliminary to the senior category final, the cadet category final of the Isla de Lanzarote Canarian Wrestling Tournament was held, which would also pit CL Unión Sur Yaiza against CL Tao. The southerners asserted their status as favorites and won 16 to 19 against CL Tao, in a final that would shine brightly.
Unión Sur Yaiza took the initiative on the scoreboard from the start of the match. In the first round, Yaiza took a 2-3 lead, highlighting the match between Cristo Betancort and Jordi Reinosa, in which the CL Tao wrestler prevailed. The grapple between Acomar Elvira (Tao) and Daniel Cobos (Yaiza) ended in a separation, this being the only grapple that would not have a winner in the entire final.
In the second round of matches, Unión Sur Yaiza continued to maintain a one-point difference. With the score of 5 to 6 in favor of CL Unión Sur Yaiza, this round came to an end, highlighting the triumph of Alberto Brito (Yaiza) over Eloy Armas.
CL Unión Sur Yaiza would begin to pull away on the scoreboard in the third and fourth rounds of matches, in which they managed to win in four of the six matches. In the third round, Cristo Betancort and Eloy Armas added the only points for CL Tao after defeating Alberto Brito and Javier Quesada, respectively. Again Cristo Betancort and Acomar Elvira added some points in favor of CL Tao in the fourth round. With a clear score of 9 to 14 in favor of CL Unión Sur Yaiza, the fourth round of matches came to an end.
In the penultimate round of matches, CL Unión Sur Yaiza managed to maintain the differences, highlighting the triumphs of Jordi Reinosa and Cristian Morales over Pedro Arrocha and Pepe la Torre.
CL Tao would not throw in the towel so easily and was able to give emotion in the final stretch of the match. The sixth and final round of matches began with the triumph of Alberto Brito (Yaiza) over Pepe la Torre, which put the score at 13 to 17. Acomar Elvira, Adrián Luzardo and Cristo Betancort were in charge of reducing the differences and putting the score at 16 to 17 with two grapples remaining for the conclusion. Jordi Reinosa was in charge of giving the victory to his team by knocking down Eloy Armas in a very beautiful fight. Cristian Morales put the final score at 16 to 19 by defeating Pedro Arrocha.
CL Unión Sur Yaiza received from Migdalia Machín, Minister of Sports of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the title that accredits them as champions of the cadet category of the Isla de Lanzarote Tournament. Cristo Betancort (CL Tao) was awarded the trophy for the highest tumbler of the competition and Cristian Morales (CL Unión Sur Yaiza) received the award for the most spectacular wrestler in the cadet category.
