The cycle of five tournaments, that score points for the WTA ranking and that have been held at the Club La Santa facilities (Tinajo), has concluded. On Sunday morning, the final of the fifth ITF Lanzarote Women's Tournament was held, a match that would be played by the British Eleanor Dean and the Lithuanian Akvile Parazinskaite, and that would be decided in favor of Eleanor Dean in a match that needed three sets. Before playing the final match, the British player had to complete her semi-final match, after it had been suspended on Saturday afternoon due to rain.
The day of tennis at Club La Santa began at 08:30 in the morning. Eleanor Dean and the French player Jade Suvrijn jumped onto the court, players who had to complete their semi-final match, after it was suspended on Saturday afternoon due to rain. The match was in the third set, with Eleanor Dean taking the first set and the French player taking the second. The third set was decided on Eleanor Dean's side, winning the match by 6/3, 3/6 and 6/4.
As the international regulations state, an hour and a half had to be waited between the end of the semi-final match and the start of the final match. A time that served Eleanor Dean to rest and prepare psychologically for the final match. After 10:30 am, the final of the fifth ITF Lanzarote Women's Tournament would begin to be played on the Central Court of Club La Santa, facing Eleanor Dean (Great Britain) and Akvile Parazinskaite (Lithuania).
It was the first final that Akvile Parazinskaite played in her sports career, a circumstance that would be reflected in the first set of the final. Eleanor Dean took the set by a clear 6/1, taking advantage of the excessive nervousness of the Lithuanian. The second set of the final was marked by numerous service breaks, with neither player being able to close their own serve. The second set was resolved in the tie-break, with Akvile Parazinskaite winning and forcing the third set. As happened in the second set, the last set of the match also had to be resolved in the tie-break, although on this occasion it was the British Eleanor Dean who won it and took the victory in the final of the ITF Lanzarote.
It is the second tournament as a professional that the British Eleanor Dean wins, adding valuable points to continue climbing positions in the WTA ranking. With Eleanor Dean's victory, the honor roll of the ITF Lanzarote is completed, a tournament that has been held during the last weeks at the Club La Santa facilities. Each tournament has been scoring for the WTA ranking and awarded with $10,000 in prizes. The organization has been in charge of Firenzze Tennis Academy, with the collaboration of Futures Lanzarote and the support of Club La Santa, Ayuntamiento de Tinajo and Cabildo de Lanzarote.
