The Arrecife San Silvestre Breaks its Participation Record with 1,400 Registered

The mayoress invited the public to "collaborate with the event, accompanying and encouraging the participants to enrich the race in this way"

The Arrecife San Silvestre has broken a record of participants with 1,400 registered. The mayoress of Arrecife, Astrid Pérez, accompanied by the municipal councillor for Sports, Rosmen Quevedo, presented on the morning of Wednesday, December 28, the 10th edition of the popular race, “San Silvestre, Ciudad de Arrecife, 2022” which will take place next Saturday, December 31.

The event will start at 5:00 p.m. for the little ones and 6:00 p.m. for the adults, with the start and finish line in the Islas Canarias Park, thus modifying the start and finish of the event with respect to the previous edition.

Astrid Pérez began the presentation highlighting “the importance of this race for the city.” “This event means finishing the year in the best way, also with a record of participation since in this edition we will have one thousand four hundred participants, so I can only thank all those registered for their participation,” added the highest authority.

Likewise, the mayoress of Arrecife invited the public to “collaborate with the event, accompanying and encouraging the participants to enrich the race in this way.”

For his part, the councillor for Sports of Arrecife, Rosmen Quevedo, thanked all those registered “for their involvement in making the event a success and allowing us to end the year with something as healthy as doing sports.”

Quevedo wanted to emphasize the “family nature of the event since in this particular race participation with family and friends prevails over competitiveness,” and asked for citizen collaboration “so that the population is aware of the traffic cuts that will be carried out to guarantee the correct development of the event.”

Schedule for collecting bib numbers

During the presentation, all participants have also been informed that the collection of bib numbers can be carried out between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, and between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 30 at the Open Mall shopping center in Arrecife.

The traditional sporting event will be held in six categories: baby, with a distance of fifty meters for runners between two and four years old; pre-Benjamin, with a distance of two hundred meters for participants between five and seven years old; Benjamin for athletes between eight and nine years old who will run a distance of four hundred meters; Alevín and Infantil for those registered between ten and thirteen years old who will run for eight hundred meters.

The cadets, fourteen and fifteen years old, whose race will last for one thousand meters; and finally, the adult event reserved for runners from twelve years old onwards who want to compete in the five-kilometer event.

As mentioned above, the route of the event will take place on an urban circuit of five kilometers that will begin and end in the Islas Canarias park and will run between the Arrecife theme park and the Charco de San Ginés.

The public is requested to pay attention to the traffic cuts that will be carried out to guarantee the correct development of the event.
