A total of 85 athletes and 19 participating teams were part of the 3x3 Tournament in honor of the Virgen del Carmen in Playa Blanca held last weekend. This event, which is now in its twelfth edition, is consolidated as a great animator of the southern patron saint festivities with the organization of the Tinyala Basketball Club and the municipal collaboration of Yaiza.

The winners were, in the children's category, the Splash Brothers and Reales teams; in cadet, Batateros and Don Cangrejo; while in adults the winners were Mascachapas and Melo. The tournament also praised the best in the three-point shooting competition, with Nicolás Machín being the most effective in children's, Daniel Cerro in cadet and Ancor Pérez in the adult category.

On behalf of the Yaiza City Council, the Councilor for Sports, Ángel Lago, congratulates Club Tinyala for its commitment to basketball during the regular season and in this case with the Carmen festivities. Tinyala is an entity linked to the Yaiza municipal sports schools program through which children and young people from the municipality train, learn and compete in different disciplines.

More sport at the parties

The Playa Blanca festivities continue and sport is still very present on the agenda of events that closes on Sunday, July 16, the Great Day of the town. This Thursday, July 13, at the newly opened San Marcial del Rubicón sports center, the Southern Futsal Triangular will take place from 7:00 p.m., with the participation of the Campos de Lanzarote, Tahíche and Vitesse F.S. clubs.

The sports activity continues on Friday the 14th with an afternoon of Canarian wrestling on the town's beach (7:30 p.m.) enlivened by the Piedra de Playa Blanca teams, directed by the legendary founder of the southern Canarian wrestling quarry Tomás Quesada and the Punta Limones, whose manager is Alexis Caraballo.

On Saturday the 15th, the eve of the Great Day of Carmen, it is the turn for Latin sailing and the endearing posthumous tribute that the southern sports family has prepared for Joaquín Caraballo ‘Patas vivas’, a resident of Playa Blanca who passed away a few weeks ago. It will be on the town's beach with two regattas from 5:00 p.m. The entire Playa Blanca festive program is published on the municipal website.
