The Department of Sports of the Arrecife City Council opened this past Monday the registration to participate in the San Silvestre Ciudad de Arrecife 2023 popular race, which will be held on December 31.
This historic race has a special symbolism in this edition as it commemorates the 225th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Arrecife in 2023.
Eli Merino, who in addition to being the head of the Department of Sports, directs the Department of Tourism and Commerce, points out that this race energizes the city on the last day of the year. The San Silvestre Ciudad de Arrecife 2023 has several modalities, and in this edition the event will take place in the morning.
The race for children, from two to four years old, Babys mode, will start at ten o'clock covering a circuit of 50 meters. The pre-Benjamin mode will be the departure at 10.15 am, for children aged between five and seven years. The Benjamin mode, for children aged between eight and nine years, will cover a distance of 400 meters. The Alevín/Infantil has the departure at 11 am, and will be destined for children aged between ten and thirteen years, doing a race of 800 meters. The cadets, aged between 14 and 15 years, will leave at 11.30 am, and will make a journey of one kilometer.
The adult race, the 5K, is scheduled to start at 12 noon. The meeting and departure point will be from the surroundings of the Parque Islas Canarias, in the capital of Lanzarote.
Registration for this traditional Christmas sports event is free and can now be done through the website completing the mandatory fields of the form and indicating the modality that will run the last day of the year through the streets of the capital conejera.
