The open water swimming team of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife successfully completed its participation in the VI Canary Islands Cup and the I Canary Islands Open Water Circuit, receiving last weekend the trophies won throughout the season.

The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife was proclaimed runner-up in the Canary Islands in the master category, a trophy that endorses the excellent work carried out by all the members of the open water swimming team.

The headquarters of the Canary Islands Swimming Federation, located in the facilities of the 29 de Abril Municipal Swimming Pool in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, hosted last Saturday the awards ceremony of the VI Canary Islands Cup and the I Canary Islands Open Water Circuit. An event that brought together the swimmers who participated last season in the events scheduled in each of the islands, with a large group of swimmers from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.

Two of the swimmers of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife won the gold medal in the individual classification, with Erasma Perdomo (Master +40) and Rosa Retana (Master +45) proclaimed champions of the IV Canary Islands Open Water Cup. In the Master +50 men's category the club had double presence on the podium, with Miguel Ángel Ferrer in second place and Carlos Saenz in third position. Also noteworthy is the second position won by Sara Perera (Master +35) and Sandra Nieves (Master +45).

One of the great novelties of the VI Canary Islands Open Water Cup was the creation of the I Canary Islands Open Water Circuit, in which participants were allowed to complete the routes of the events with the use of neoprene. In this modality, Silvia Gopar (Master +50) and María Teresa Lorenzo (Master +55) were proclaimed champions.

In the club classification, the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife was proclaimed runner-up in the VI Canary Islands Open Water Cup. The results obtained by the different swimmers throughout the competition have allowed them to add a total of 6,475 points, a score that has served to climb to the second step of the podium in the club classification.

The Real Club Náutico de Arrecife wants to congratulate each of the members of the open water team, and their coach Delioma González Hernández, for the skill shown in each of the events that have been part of this season of the VI Canary Islands Open Water Cup and at the same time, invites them to continue training and enjoying one of their great passions in view of a new edition of the competition.
