When the "hangover" of Ironman Lanzarote 2012 has not yet passed, the organizers are already preparing the 2013 edition. On Tuesday at noon, registration opened for the twenty-second edition of the toughest triathlon in the world and since then they have received an avalanche of registrations. More than 400 people have already formalized their registration and will be on May 18, 2013 at the start of Ironman Lanzarote.
The prestige of Ironman Lanzarote continues to grow year after year, a circumstance that is demonstrated in the interest shown by the hundreds of triathletes who are informed to participate in the Lanzarote event. The experience of the last editions invites optimism and forecasts indicate that in a few weeks the registrations will have to be closed when the maximum number stipulated for the 2013 edition is completed.
On Tuesday at noon, Club La Santa through the website of the event (www.ironmanlanzarote.com) opened the registration period for the 2013 edition. These have been frantic hours and in which an avalanche of requests has been received to register for Ironman Lanzarote. In the first 48 hours, 435 triathletes have formalized their registration for the next edition.
The organizers point out that it is the largest avalanche of registrations that Ironman Lanzarote has received in recent years, completing 25% of the available places in a few hours. If this trend continues, they assure that registrations for the next edition will close in a few weeks.
The places that have been put into service for the twenty-second edition of Ironman Lanzarote 2013 are 1,525 for the different age groups, with 75 places reserved for professional triathletes. The price of registration is 400 euros for triathletes who complete all the procedures before December 31 and from that date the cost of registration increases to 450 euros. Triathletes residing in Lanzarote have until April 15, 2013 to confirm their participation in the event.
Ironman Lanzarote 2013 will be held on May 18 of next year. To whet your appetite, the first edition of Ironman Lanzarote 70.3 will be held on November 10, consisting of 1.9 kilometers of swimming, 90.1 kilometers of cycling and 21.1 kilometers of running. The event currently has 250 registered.
