UD Lanzarote achieved the second victory of the season against Marino de Luanco in a very close match where there were goal opportunities for both teams, especially in the second half. Despite this, the three goals of the match came in the first 45 minutes. With this result from the third matchday, the "rojillos" are placed sixth in the standings and face their next challenge against CD Leganés with determination.

The match against Marino de Luanco started favorably as the locals took the lead in the 3rd minute, with Pereira taking advantage of a measured pass in the area by Yeray Ortega, a pass that found its reward in a comfortable shot by the UD Lanzarote midfielder in the face of the Asturian defense's passivity. However, the first minutes of the game would bring many back-and-forths, a verticality in the pace of the game that benefited Marino in the 9th minute, when Quero finished a quick counter-attack with a high shot that went over goalkeeper Marino and resulted in the equalizer.

The first half-hour of the match was a back-and-forth affair. The committed attitude shown from the start by the Asturians was a pleasant surprise, as they spared no means to challenge Paco Gutiérrez's pupils on their own ground. In fact, they could have taken the lead in the 12th minute, but goalkeeper Marino made a providential save and stopped a previous shot from Pascual from the edge of the area low down, on the goal line.

However, Marino de Luanco's energy faded in the final stretch of the first half, a drop in pace that accelerated UD Lanzarote's dominance. The "rojillo" monologue in the last moments forced the opponent to retreat, who ended the first half bottled up in their own half. Before the break, the second Lanzarote goal would arrive, scored with an excellent shot by inside midfielder Yeray Ortega, the most combative player of the match. Yeray's strike put his team ahead again and rewarded the greater local insistence.

More chances without goals

UD Lanzarote showed in the second half that they are not uncomfortable deploying a direct game and managing a narrow lead with some solvency. The wings continued to be an option, but the right wing barely pressed in this period, while Yeray on the left ended up exhausting himself.

The approaches to both areas were perhaps more intense, but the accuracy was less. At the start, Carlos de la Plata was about to surprise Guillermo with a low shot from the left, but the ball went high. Even clearer was Anibal's chance in the 77th minute, when he headed Óscar's service wide in the area.

For its part, Club Marino de Luanco opted for the speed of its wingers, an attacking line that did not find a finish in the final meters. Only in set pieces were they able to trouble the locals somewhat. The clearest chance came in the 72nd minute, when Alex took a direct free kick somewhat skewed on the edge of the area; the ball was punched away by goalkeeper Marino.

In the end, UD Lanzarote managed the lead and celebrated without blushing a hard-fought victory that comes after the one achieved the previous week against AD Alcorcón. Paco Gutiérrez's squad will face CD Leganés in the next matchday, a Madrid team that has yet to taste victory.
