The first addition to the Tiñosera project for the 2020-2021 season in the Honor Division is the Chilean international goalkeeper Antonella Valentina Piantini. The goalkeeper is a teammate in the goal of the Chilean national team with Madeleine Cortez Fuenzalida, a Puerto del Carmen player during the recently finished season and with whom she will share the goal next season in the women's honor division.
Piantini has dual Italian-Chilean nationality and has experience in Europe and Italy (Leonas Balonmano Chile, SSV Brixen Italia in the 17-18 season, PDO Salerno in 18-19 and Ariosto Pallamano last season), she arrives in Lanzarote after having lived in Ferrara. Precisely, Emilia-Romagna has been one of the areas of the transalpine country most affected by the coronavirus pandemic. After traveling to a concentration of her national team in Spain, she could no longer return to Italy because the airports were closed and she went to Chile, where she is these days.
For the president of the yellow entity, Félix Montelongo, the signing of Antonella responds to the search to "reinforce the lines that in our team have not been able to be maintained with our youth team, thus providing a point of improvement to the squad facing the Honor Division".
According to coach Miguel Ángel Lemes, "Antonella's arrival is due to the need to complete the goal since last year we finished with only one goalkeeper in the team. After contacting several goalkeepers, we opted for Antonella because she is an experienced goalkeeper, with many international matches behind her and with titles in the Italian league and although this is not a top league in Europe, fighting for the lead involves a high level of stress and competitiveness, that is why we opted for Antonella".
Lemes considers that Antonella Piantini "is a goalkeeper with good size, 1.78 meters tall, who is good at lower angles and covers well from the extremes. She will be the ideal complement to Madeleine, who had such a good season with us last year. In addition, if we add the great work that Eduardo does with the goalkeepers, it makes me optimistic about this exciting season. I think we can have a good pair of goalkeepers, in fact it is the duo of the Chilean national team. And we expect great performances to strengthen ourselves in defense and be able to develop the fast game that characterizes us".
