El Tritón Clínica Veterinaria Bari raised this Saturday the trophies that accredit it as champion of the 2021 and 2022 seasons of the Island League of Latin Sail Barquillos in the recognition gala organized by the Insular Federation of Latin Sail Barquillos at the headquarters of the Insular Center of Nautical Sports, where the family of the Lanzarote Latin sail deservedly applauded the short and successful career of the Playa Blanca barquillo that was launched into the sea on April 1, 2021 by its owner Víctor García.
The Yaiza City Council, chaired by Óscar Noda, represented at the event by the councilors of Sports and Culture, Ángel Lago and Daniel Medina, respectively, publicly congratulates all the sailors “for their impressive performance not only in the Island League, achieving two consecutive titles, but also in the Copa Vela Latina del Sur, which also saw them crowned this 2022 and achieve the runner-up title just the year of their debut in 2021.”
Yaiza names the people responsible for the succession of victories: Kevin Cabrera, skipper, Cristian Sánchez, second skipper and the crew Víctor García, Rainiero Díaz, Francisco Gutiérrez, Dailos Bravo and Cristian Roca. “The boat has proven to be the fastest 5 meters in Lanzarote waters, the crew knows the barquillo better, they are more experienced, and now they want to improve their position in the Canary Islands Championship,” says Ángel Lago.
Yaiza has given a significant and visible boost to Latin sailing in the last two years, promoting the Copa Vela Latina del Sur, which resumed official competition in the south of Lanzarote after more than 20 years in blank, managing to bring together athletes and fans again and also increasing the fleet that already has five barquillos, one of them, commanded by the women's team Deportes Yaiza Código Cero. The Federation, chaired by Luis Toledo, presented a gift to the Yaiza City Council for its support of the sport.
“The triumph of Tritón and the participation and integration of the entire municipality's fleet encourage us to continue betting strongly on a sport with a long tradition in Yaiza that was forgotten. This end of the month we will pay the specific subsidies for Latin sailing,” concludes Ángel Lago. The southern fleet is made up of the Playa Blanca, Bernasan, Playa Dorada, Deportes Yaiza Código Cero and Tritón Clínica Veterinaria Bari barquillos.
