El Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote traveled to Gran Canaria on Saturday to play the second phase of the Canary Islands Government Cup and continue preparing for the start of the competition in the Men's First National League. The Lanzarote team won 25-36 against Gáldar Gran Canaria, qualifying for the final and will face Balonmano Ingenio again on Sunday at noon.
Gáldar Gran Canaria surprised their rival in the first minutes, taking a three-goal lead right from the start of the match. The reaction of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote was not long in coming, with Acoidán Martín (2) and Adrián Ruiz being responsible for leveling the score again at the Juan Vega Mateos Pavilion (3-3).
It was not until the 10th minute that San José Obrero managed to take the lead for the first time, with Rafa Robayna scoring to make it 5-6 on the scoreboard. Shortly after, the Lanzarote team lost winger Roc Segarra, with the Catalan player being disqualified for arriving late to a defensive action and unbalancing the opponent when he was in the air.
El Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote did not suffer from the absence of one of the mainstays of their attack, and gradually increased the difference. Anderson Caycedo completed a 0-3 partial, forcing the coach of Gáldar Gran Canaria to request a time-out (8-11). The first half ended with a score of 12-19.
The differences remained unchanged in the first minutes of the second half, a phase of the match in which the exchange of goals was common. An exclusion of the local Joaquín Molina was used by Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote to achieve a 0-5 partial, and increase the advantage by more than ten goals (16-27).
Until the end of the match, Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote controlled the match perfectly, not allowing the opponent to get closer and Iñaki Malumbres carrying out different tests on the 40x20 to rehearse different game situations.
Triumph by 25 to 36 of Gourmet Ampate Lanzarote against Gáldar Gran Canaria, a result that qualifies the Lanzarote team for the final of the Canary Islands Government Cup of First National. Their rival will be Balonmano Ingenio, after the Gran Canaria team won 25-28 against Balonmano Tejina La Laguna.
