The Lanzarote team dominated the match and defeated a BM Ingenio that never gave up.

The Titerroy Municipal Pavilion hosted on Thursday afternoon the final of the Canary Islands Youth Handball Championship, played between CB San José Obrero and Hermanos Ramírez BM Ingenio. The nearly 300 fans in attendance were able to see a handball show of many carats, vibrating with the explosive game and celebrating each of their team's goals. CB San José Obrero took the victory by 29 to 26 and was proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands.

The first minutes of the match were marked by equality, with two teams playing with great intensity on the court. Two goals by Joel Armas from the left wing put the score at 4-2. In the following play, a quick counterattack culminated by Alejandro Morera served to put the score at 5-2, forcing the BM Ingenio coach to request a time-out.

CB San José continued to maintain a lead of two or three goals for many minutes of the first half, although BM Ingenio did not lower its pace of play. Azael Santana reduced the difference, putting the score at 7-6 after the first half, which forced the San José Obrero coach to request a time-out.

BM Ingenio decided to change its defensive system, making a mixed defense on Damaico Sosa, which later became mixed on Alejandro Morera. For its part, San José Obrero played with a 3:2:1 defense trying to avoid the opponent's outside shot. Juan José Montoya made very meritorious saves under the posts and the advantage was increasing.

The difference was four goals with seven meters to go until the end of the first half, a lead that the locals knew how to maintain in the remaining minutes. A first half that ended with a goal by Rafa Robayna from the right wing. The first thirty minutes ended with a score of 13 to 9.

CB San José Obrero increased the lead to five goals at the start of the second half, with Alejandro Morera culminating a counterattack to put the score at 16-11. BM Ingenio, with a double mixed defense, began to put San José Obrero in trouble, placing themselves one goal down in the 9th minute of the second half. A goal by Rafael Sánchez put the score at 18-17.

The match entered a phase in which it was necessary to be intelligent in the game and the most intelligent was San José Obrero. The locals matured each of the attack options, while Ingenio played a faster game with rushed shots. A steal with a subsequent counterattack culminated by Damaico Sosa and a goal by Airan Padrón put the score at 26-22 with six minutes remaining.

Ingenio requested a time-out, returning to the court making a defense on the entire court, which San José got rid of with a fast game and good ball circulation. The Titerroy Municipal Pavilion was a party, celebrating the victory of their team in the final minutes.

With the result of 29 to 26, the match came to an end, with the San José Obrero youth team being proclaimed champion of the Canary Islands in the youth category. The Lanzarote team will represent Canarian handball in the sector phase of the Spanish Championship, which will be held from April 13 to 15 at a venue still to be defined.
