Balonmano Ribeiro Rodosa-Ourense had been the only rival that defeated San José Obrero in the first round of the competition, so there was a thirst for sports revenge among the players of the Titerroy team. From the first moment, the team led by Iñaki Malumbres imposed its rhythm on the 40x20 and was opening the gap on the scoreboard as the minutes passed. The attack of the Lanzarote team was led by the Galician Ángel Iglesias, a player who scored 15 goals.
CB San José Obrero started the match in an overwhelming way, and two quick plays culminated by Ángel Iglesias put the 2-0 on the scoreboard of the Titerroy Municipal Pavilion. Balonmano Ribeiro was supported in the stands by a large group of fans, who had traveled to Lanzarote to cheer on their team and spend a few days of rest on the island.
Mikita Liavonau stealing in defense and culminating a counterattack put the 6-1 on the scoreboard, and shortly after Alexis Rodríguez from the left wing raised the score to six goals (8-2), having to request the coach of Balonmano Ribeiro the first timeout, when barely eleven minutes of the first half had been played.
CB San José Obrero continued to print its fast game on the court and opening the gap on the scoreboard. A partial of 4-0, with goals from Ángel Iglesias (2), Alexis Rodríguez and Oscar Silva, put the 14-4 on the scoreboard. The Galicians were only able to score 4 goals in the first twenty minutes of the game, which speaks clearly of the effectiveness of the defense of the Lanzarote team.
With the score of 18 to 10, the end of the first half was reached. The second half continued to develop under the same script, not allowing CB San José Obrero to let Balonmano Ribeiro get closer on the scoreboard. The visitors began to feel the fatigue and the few rotations they had on their bench for this match.
The coach of San José Obrero, Iñaki Malumbres, distributed the minutes among all the available players, not loading the members of the squad with effort. The central Diego Fernández did not participate in the match as a precaution,
not wanting the coach to risk the physical discomfort that the Asturian player had.
With the score of 35 to 23, the end of the match was reached, with San José Obrero adding the nineteenth victory of the season and maintaining the difference with respect to the pursuers. The Lanzarote team visits OAR Coruña next week, a rival that is in the third place in the classification of group A of the First National Masculine.
