CB Lanzarote Puerto del Carmen achieved victory this Saturday afternoon at the Tías Municipal Hall against Rocasa Gran Canaria (36-26) in a match corresponding to the twenty-sixth and final day of the regular season of Group A of the Women's Silver Division of Honor. The draw will take place on Monday to reveal the first opponent of the Tiñoseras on the road to promotion.
The match had two distinct parts, although the superiority of Puerto del Carmen over the Gran Canaria team was evident in every play. In the first half, Ricardo Aguilera's players managed to hold their own with a tied score in the first ten minutes (6-5, min. 10). From there, the locals, without going crazy, started to step on the accelerator, achieving a +7 partial in just ten minutes (14-7, min. 20). The visitors reacted successfully and reached halftime minimizing the disadvantage (15-13, min. 30).
In the second half, everything was going to change. The locals, more relaxed, pressed hard in the first minutes and achieved a lead (24-17, min. 40) that they would not relinquish until the end of the match. Offensively, Rocasa relied on the 9 goals of Susana Martín and another 7 from Nerea Guerra. In the aurinegras ranks, with 10 goals, Fernanda Insfran once again led the attack of the locals and also managed to proclaim herself the top scorer of the league with 219 goals in 24 matches and an average of 9.13 goals per match.
Rocasa thus chains two consecutive defeats to finish the league in tenth place with 23 points. Puerto del Carmen, as they knew five matchdays ago, finishes as group leader, with 49 points in 26 matches, after 24 wins, 1 draw, and 1 defeat. The Tiñoseras have accumulated a more than remarkable goal difference with a positive 211. Juanmi Pérez's team will know this Monday their opponent for the first leg of the tie that could take them to the final league for promotion to Gold.
