Bernardo Saturnino Povedano del Yerro has announced this Monday his resignation as president of CD Unión Sur Yaiza. He does so for personal, family and professional reasons, and after having led one of the most intense and exciting stages of the club in recent years.

In an emotional farewell letter addressed to the “Unión Sur Yaiza family”, Povedano reviews the milestones achieved since his arrival in November 2022, when he assumed the position with the challenge of avoiding relegation to Preferente. “With work, enthusiasm and the commitment of everyone, we achieved it,” he recalls.

During his mandate, the club experienced historic moments, such as the promotion to Segunda Federación in the 2023/24 season and the promotion of the youth team to División de Honor. “It was a dream come true that took the name of Yaiza and Lanzarote to the place they deserve,” he says.

Although the last season ended with the return to Tercera Federación, Povedano highlights the learning and the bonds generated: “I have grown as a person and have intensely enjoyed the successes we shared.”

The former president thanks the support received from his board of directors, coaches, players, fans and media, and dedicates a special recognition to his right-hand man, Juan Manuel de la Riva. He also mentions his family as a fundamental pillar and main reason for stepping aside.

“I will continue cheering from the stands, because when Unión Sur Yaiza enters your life, it does so forever,” concludes the letter, in which he trusts that the project will continue with the same commitment.
