Antonio Padrón and Tessa Kortekaas take the title of the long-awaited VII Ultrabike Lanzarote

After the break caused by the pandemic, this weekend the VII Ultrabike Lanzarote was held with more than 800 registered. Yesterday, Saturday, the time trial took place in La
Graciosa and this Sunday the distances of 100km and 45km in a good part of the island of Lanzarote.

This Sunday's day started at 8:30 a.m. with the first start, corresponding to the queen event “Ultrabike Cegrisa” of approximately 100 kilometers. Later, at 11 a.m. and from the town of Masdache, the “Bike Teguise” distance started, with which they had more than 45km ahead.

The weather predictions did not fail, and high temperatures and haze were expected for the day, which added difficulty to an already quite demanding route and that was released in this new edition. With the finish line located in Playa Blanca, the test promised to compensate for its hardness with the impressive views offered by a circuit through almost the entire island of volcanoes, which made the participants enjoy the event at all times.

Both factors contributed to the fact that some of the registered participants who started as favorites had to face different breakdowns, which made it very difficult for them to fight for the first places in both categories.

After noon, the winners of the “Ultrabike Cegrisa” 100km began to cross the finish line, with the podium as follows:

Men's category:
Antonio Padrón (03:59:52)
Nelson Vera (03:59:54)
Javier Ramos (04:04:47)

Women's category:
Tessa Kortekaas (04:40:50)
Lourdes Bethencourt (05:05:26)
Carmen Delia Luz (05:18:20)

Finally, the “Bike Teguise” 45km distance concluded with the podium and these times:

Men's category:
Ayose Tejera (02:07:05)
Rogelio Ramos (02:15:41)
Víctor Tavío (02:15:47)
Women's category:

Icha Quevedo (02:58:29)
Carolina Aguilar (03:17:14)
Cristina Cauteruccio (03:21:28)

After the success of this long-awaited edition, an event is consolidated one more year in which the environment and two-wheel sport merge to give rise to a test that is positioned as one of the most important on the Lanzarote annual calendar.
