The La Vegueta Trail has been, once again, one of the highlights of the festivities for Nuestra Señora de Regla 2023 in La Vegueta, in addition to being a scoring event in the Tinajo Popular Race Cup.

If on Friday the show began with the participation of 120 children in the mini version of the event, on Saturday nearly 300 runners took the start in the different 5-kilometer (5K), 10-kilometer (10K), and hiking events.

In the women's category of the 10K event, Sara Rivas won with a time of 47:21, followed on the podium by Sandra Sánchez (48:53) and Rosa Castellano (49:52). In the men's category, Antonio Jesús Atienza from Perenquén was the winner with a time of 37:52. After him came Tanausú Cabrera (CM El Jable) with a record of 38:11, followed, in third place, by Fran García (CA Puerto Cruz Realejos) after completing the La Vegueta course in 38:41.

The male winner in the 5K was Hugo Pérez from Cavelanz (16:49), followed by his teammate Akorán Rodríguez (18:06) and Dani Guerra (18:22). Among the females, Cristina Capitán won with 19:12 (Trotasierra Hornachuelos), with Marina Guerra in second place and Aida Rodríguez (JCH Running) in third position.

The Sports Councilor of the Tinajo City Council, Vianney Rodríguez, highlighted "the good atmosphere prevailing in the race, a festive and sporting tone worthy of praise."

For his part, the mayor, Jesús Machín, congratulates "all the participants, demonstrating, once again, that Tinajo is one of the preferred destinations for sports." At the same time, he wishes "that the rest of the festivities for Nuestra Señora de Regla 2023 in La Vegueta continue to proceed without incidents and that the residents can enjoy peaceful and responsible festivities. As I have been saying in recent days, enjoy and Viva Nuestra Señora de Regla," concludes the mayor.
