Andrey Lanev, in the men's elite category; and Julika Borek, in the women's elite category, were the fastest in the sprint race in the men's and women's elite category in the first day of the Lanzarote O-Race orienteering event, which was held this Saturday, October 8 in the Villa de Teguise; the second race will be held in the surroundings of Caleta Caballo, a coastal town in the municipality of Tinajo, on Sunday the 9th - medium distance - and will start at 10.30 am.

The streets of Villa de Teguise, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, were filled with color this Saturday with the beacons that marked the different routes of the sprint race, which encountered a much kinder climate than the predictions and the previous days, very hot and under the effects of an intense haze. However, during the race, the clouds took over the interior of the Island of Volcanoes, threatening at times with a light drizzle and an evident drop in temperature, which made the race much more pleasant.

Regarding the race itself, in the Elite Men's competitive category, the fastest was Andrey Lanev, who achieved his goal with a time of 22.06; behind him came Juan Gregorio Tovar Gámez in second place; third was Hicham Hamed Mimon and fourth Unai Manchado Goicolea.

In the Elite Women's category, the best time was set by Julika Borek, with 25 minutes and 18 seconds; behind her came Elena González Araña, with a time of 30.28 and third place went to Yaiza Cardona.

In the veterans category, the fastest was Javier González Hernández (22.44), followed by Isaac Tejera (24.38) and José Alberto Sanchís (27.33). As for couples, highlight the time set by Rudy Crespo, from Club Deportivo Latitud 29, with 19.13; Beatriz Pablos, with 22.25 and Javier Hernández Martín (23.17). In the promotion test (family, non-competitive), the best time was made by Ubay Alemán (25.45); and behind him came Carla Trujillo (35.31) and Laura Aparicio (36.31).

It should be remembered that each race has routes of different levels of difficulty adapted to the technical knowledge of the participants. This Sunday this second edition of the race will be completed with the medium distance race.
