Tens of thousands of high school students, as well as those from Vocational Training and Arts, will premiere this Wednesday in the Canary Islands a University Access Test (PAU) that, for the first time, will evaluate not only the knowledge acquired but also the maturity of the students.

The exams of the mandatory phase and the specific phase of the PAU begin this Tuesday in almost all autonomous communities, except in Catalonia (where the PAU will be on June 11, 12 and 13), the Canary Islands (June 4, 5, 6 and 7) and Valencia (affected by the dana 1, 2 and 3 of July) and will last between three and four days in a row.

Spanish Language and Literature II is the first test to be passed from 9.30 in the morning in many communities and it will be then when students can relax, once they know the space, the organization and the rules.

The seventeen university districts have sent to the attached centers the dossier on the organization of the new PAU, in which each subject will present a unique model of exercise, after five years with the 'pandemic model' in which students had more option to choose and could even discard subject.

Each test will last 90 minutes and the student may bring additional material such as calculators, dictionaries or Tippex.

Among the main changes is the maximum penalty for spelling mistakes, which will be a maximum of 2 points for Spanish Language and Literature II and co-official languages; 1.5 points maximum for the foreign language exam, and 1 point for the rest of the subjects.
