The “Orientation Service for the Qualification of Professionals of Lanzarote and La Graciosa” is now called “Accredit Your Experience”. The new image of the service has been presented by the Department of Employment of the Cabildo, the Canary Islands Institute of Professional Qualifications and the Island Association of Hotel and Apartment Businessmen of Lanzarote (Asolan).
Since 2016, this service has become a key tool to facilitate professional requalification and grant official recognition to skills acquired outside the education system, also allowing to improve employability and access to new job opportunities on the island.
Managed by Asolan and financed by the Cabildo, this free program facilitates and accompanies the process to access the official accreditation of professional skills in multiple sectors to people who have at least three years of demonstrable work experience or non-regulated training of more than 300 hours, without the need for a prior academic degree.
The Councilor for Training and Inclusive Employment of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, María Ascensión Toledo Hernández, highlighted during the presentation that “this initiative represents a firm commitment to local talent and the continuous improvement of the qualification of our active population. From the Cabildo we will continue to support all those actions that contribute to dignifying the work experience of many people who, without an official qualification, perform their work with great professionalism and commitment.”
Likewise, Toledo stressed that “the new stage of this service not only modernizes its image, but also reinforces its usefulness as a key tool to move towards a fairer, more competitive and inclusive labor market.
For his part, the general director of Professional Qualifications, has highlighted the importance of the procedure for accreditation of skills to complete the training to obtain the corresponding professional training title or a professional certificate.
Also to identify training itineraries that facilitate the insertion of workers in training recycling processes, favoring employability and enabling promotion within the company or a better framework within the professional categories of collective agreements (salary and HR management improvements).
This tool is being understood as fundamental within the Vocational Training system and hence the significant increase in applications: in the first quarter of 2025 the demand for accreditation has grown significantly (141%), with 2106 applications, compared to 873 in the same period of 2024.
The president of Asolan and the Tourist Federation of Lanzarote, Susana Pérez, wanted to thank both for the support and close collaboration that the ICCP and the Employment area of the Cabildo provide to this service, contributing to its solid trajectory.
“The figures we see year after year, and especially in this last period, not only reflect an increase in demand, but also an increasingly qualified profile of the professionals who come to this service,” said Pérez, highlighting that 58% are women and that the most demanded certifications are level 2 and level 3, which validate more complex and specialized skills and knowledge.
Increases the number of professional families covered
Since 2016, the service has managed 2,087 applications for accreditation of professional experience, which has meant a constant growth year after year. In 2024 alone, 547 applications were processed, compared to 405 the previous year, and the number of professional certificates submitted increased from 99 in 2023 to 181 in 2024. In addition, the number of professional families covered was also expanded, increasing from 16 to 23.
Sectors such as Hospitality and Tourism, Administration and Management, Electricity and Electronics, Commerce and Marketing or Installation and Maintenance are among the most demanded by the users of the service.
Personalized orientation, with a practical approach aimed at obtaining results and a close treatment, has been one of the hallmarks of the program since its creation. The technical team analyzes each case, helps in the documentary preparation and accompanies throughout the process, which does not end with obtaining a certificate, but with the achievement of real improvements in access to employment, training, professional development and new job opportunities.
In addition, for those who want to expand their training, this accreditation can mean the validation of subjects or direct access to cycles of intermediate and higher level of Vocational Training.
With its new visual identity and the support of a consolidated experience, “Accredit your experience” is presented as an effective, personalized and transformative tool for the present and future work of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.
