The Snipe Canarias Series arrived this weekend at Marina Rubicón with the firm proposal to hold regattas on Saturday and Sunday, taking advantage of the visit of sailors from Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

However, the strong wind prevailing throughout the weekend on the island prevented all the tests that were planned from being held, having to cancel those on Saturday for this reason. The Regatta Committee waited a reasonable time for the intensity to drop, but the more than 25 knots that were blowing prevented, by regulation and safety, any from being held, having to leave everything pending for Sunday.

The idea on Sunday was to start early, but Eolo wanted to continue being the protagonist and did not give any respite until after 11:00 hours, lowering the intensity to an interval of 18 to 23. The Committee organized the test, but many sailors decided not to participate in it given the strength, leaving 15 teams out of the 30 that had initially registered.

In the water, Alfredo González and Cristian Sánchez, aboard the Sinergia of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, managed to dominate the three tests that could be carried out, without giving options to the rivals, who should fight for the rest of the podium positions. Nete Armas and Rafael Del Castillo, racing with the The Hoteles of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, achieved the second position in the first and second regatta, and although they fell to sixth in the third, they did not see the second step in danger.

The fight for the third position was more closely contested. First it was in the hands of the Lanzarote couple formed by Miguel Ángel Lasso and Tomás Fuentes, aboard the Cerveza Nao of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, but in the second regatta they were matched by the also Lanzarote natives Miguel Ángel Guerra and Luis Miguel Hernández, also from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife. The two teams, with 9 points, fought for the third step, but it was the Tenerife couple formed by Alejandro Pérez and Carlos Arozena, from the Real Club Náutico de Tenerife, who, with three fifth places, took advantage of the stumbles of the two previous teams, to achieve the bronze.
