In the halls of the Hotel Lancelot, in Arrecife, the presentation of the boxing match valid for the Latin World Championship took place, which will pit the Lanzarote native and former Spanish champion, Alexis Callero, against the current champion of Colombia, Elkin José Ubardes. This championship, organized by the World Boxing Council (W.B.C.), will proclaim the best Latin boxer in the super middleweight division.
The Lanzarote native Alexis Callero has been preparing thoroughly for what will be the most important fight of his sporting career, which will also be the biggest boxing event held in Lanzarote. To fine-tune his preparation for this event, Callero gave up defending his Spanish champion title. In his professional career, the Lanzarote native has fought a total of 22 fights, of which he has only lost two. Being the most consistent boxer in his weight class in Spain has earned him the designation of contender by the W.B.C.
For his part, Elkin José Ubarnes is currently the champion of Colombia and has been designated as a contender by the W.B.C. for his great record and for the gallantry and bravery he demonstrates in the ring in each fight.
The fight will be held over 10 rounds of 3 minutes each and promises to be a fight where the Canary Islander will contribute the technique and know-how in the ring and the Colombian his great punch. Therefore, it is guaranteed to be an attractive event for the great boxing fans in Lanzarote. It is important to note that almost 18,000 South Americans reside on the island, of which almost 6,000 are Colombian. Therefore, in addition to the pugilistic spectacle, the emotion for the rivalry is assured.
As preliminaries to this professional fight, four other amateur fights will be held, all of them belonging to the Callero Gym, which are also generating significant interest among boxing fans in Lanzarote.
This extraordinary sporting event is held in Lanzarote thanks to the special collaboration of the Ministry of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, thanks to the special sensitivity of the Lanzarote native Rita Martín, who is responsible for it.
