Hello, my name is Ruyman Medina Viñoly, I am from Uga, municipality of Yaiza, I have been dedicated to activities related to dance in our municipality for many years. As a child, I participated in school activities, organizing and participating in theater groups and PlayBack that took place at the end of the year parties. From the age of 7 to 11 I was part of the PlayBack "Los Atrevidos de Uga" as well as being a member of the folk group "Rondalla de Uga"
From the age of 14 I created, as director and choreographer, the Children's PlayBack "Los Peques de Uga", at the same time as the youth PlayBack "The world of the night" was born, in which many young people from the town of Uga participated. With the PlayBack "Los Peques de Uga". Ruymán has been directing the youth ballet DANCE POP since 1998, a musical group of recognized prestige in Lanzarote. He also directs the Comparsa LOS YAICEROS for 3 years. Between both groups, approximately one hundred young people participate in both groups.
I studied at the Karen Taft Dance Center, Madrid, at the Postgraduate Studies Center, School "Estudio de Actores" Madrid and Musical Theater at the MEMORY Studies Center, Madrid
There are many performances organized by me on this Island and in this municipality, Yaiza. I have made several choreographies throughout these years such as the Yaiza Song Interpreters Festival with live orchestra, Openings of the Arrecife Carnival Queen Galas, Drag Queen Galas, Arrecife, Miss San Ginés, Arrecife, Miss and Mister Teguise 2014, Jury in various festivals, beauty contests, music and dance and a long etcetera to which I do not want to extend
During the last four years, I have participated voluntarily and without pay in the organization of the Miss and Mister Yaiza events (2011-2014). Everything very well, good participation, public success and I think that together we are doing a good job, as demonstrated by the trust placed in me during these years.
But this year everything has changed and that is why I am writing this letter to clarify above all certain unfounded opinions towards me. This year, apparently, that good work is not useful for the government group of the Yaiza City Council and especially for its Councilor for Festivities. He wants to give the gala a new air, they say, because he does not show his face, he does not give explanations, he sends others to give them in which, apparently, people who have presented themselves in other political formations in the recent municipal elections cannot be, making clear the lack of democracy in these people and the lack of respect for other ways of seeing things. A broad trajectory of work and organization is ignored, which I have always done to collaborate with my municipality, without charging a penny, although now I am accused in some forums of doing so.
It is regrettable that at this point in the century, personal actions of a man who believes that because he is a councilor he has the right to think that this is his particular farm and therefore, he is the one who decides and breaks a good job only for political reasons and to favor his committee members and affiliates. As regrettable as the fact that the rest of the councilors allow this type of action, which makes clear the lack of democratic spirit of our rulers.
I want to wish the participants the best of luck, they have some wonderful days ahead of them with this contest that they will remember for years. It is regrettable that this type of exclusive and undemocratic characters do not allow a job to be done for political issues, when a good job has been done in organizing the event and proof of this are the four previous editions.
