We are all witnesses of how the tourism sector has repeatedly increased the number of visitors, hotel occupancy, the number of flights, etc. while unemployment continues to grow in the archipelago. Tourism can be a goldmine to be shaped, so that it really leaves benefits in this Land, but it will never be the sustenance of one hundred percent of the active population, so diversifying and strengthening the Canarian economy is a dream that is not even glimpsed among the current political managers.
Canarias is a nation without a state, with administrative dependence on Spanish colonialist politics. A state that has sold its soul to international capitalist influence and its globalized market. This archipelago continues to be tied, by the interests of a few bourgeois, to that foreign dependence that is not interested in us progressing in a way that we can emancipate ourselves. That is the only thing that justifies that our process of self-determination and independence has been stuck in time and the gaps in certain nationalist discourses that have nothing to do with the workers of this People.
According to the quarterly data from the EPA, in Canarias unemployment increased by almost 6% from the first quarter of 2011 to the same of 2013. Meanwhile, the Gross Domestic Product has increased up to 1.7% in the same period. So someone is taking more from this land than before, in the midst of the crisis. While more and more Canarians increase the number of people without resources or at risk of social exclusion.
The solution is to change the economic and fiscal model of the archipelago. Something very difficult with the current administrative dependence. Therefore, it is clear that the first step is to claim and assume all the powers, without this meaning renouncing the meeting of national sovereignty. The second is to make that path in the path of wealth distribution, so that Canarias enjoys social equality that commits its citizens and makes them participants in the budgets and local politics.
All this leads me to think that there is no reference to the future in that Parliament, in which there is too much demagogy and only leads us to look for similes in the saying that "they are like God and the police, who are everywhere, but always arrive late..". We are needing another policy; other parties; other forms; other people in front.
