Turning Arrecife into a true city of sports is the main reason why I decided to make the leap into politics.
The sports transformation project of Arrecife requires a significant investment in a top-level Sports City, with an Olympic swimming pool and a Canarian Wrestling arena adapted to the new demands of a public that remains loyal and teams that continue to build a youth academy. An installation that must respond to the requirements of all Lanzarote residents without losing sight of its location in the capital.
It will be a priority to remodel the current sports spaces, create courts where petanque and bowling, ping pong, basketball, handball, volleyball can fit... The condition of majority practice of some cannot make us forget the rest. Knowing the figures, the evolution of tastes and interests and the different needs of each discipline will be the purpose of the future Municipal Office for Athlete Attention.
In recent years, in Arrecife we have experienced neglect, if not interested neglect, from the Cabildo of Lanzarote in sports matters: The first institution of Lanzarote has only had an interest in improving sports facilities in Teguise, Tahíche and Haría (where Coalición Canaria governs). Proof of this is what happened with the Argana football field, which hurts me even more because we are talking about a neighborhood that has to be on the agenda of all institutions.
I have been linked to the world of sports all my life and have held positions of responsibility as first vice president and team delegate at U.D. Lanzarote. Throughout my life I have had to make difficult decisions but it is true that I like to face new challenges. That is why I decided to accompany Eva De Anta in the PSOE candidacy for the Arrecife City Council.
My goal, my gold medal, will be that sports practice, which generates endorphins and a great sense of well-being, reaches all citizens in an Arrecife dedicated to the healthy values of sports.
