"We must not deceive anyone, events will continue to happen in the center." This is how forceful the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Festivities of Arrecife, Echedey Eugenio, was, regarding the multiple events in which millions of euros from all the residents are wasted. That his mouth does not tremble is not surprising for an arrogant person whose sole purpose is his own well-being. However, that he has been so sincere is something that draws the attention of someone who we are used to seeing how he manipulates and lies week after week.
And while the Government Group boasts at each event referring to the number of attendees or the supposed economic impact, more and more residents, especially from the central area, have lost something as important as rest or tranquility.
The noise and revelry are already part of our daily lives, to such an extent that it has made the lives of these residents unbearable, who, desperate for the situation, have decided to create the platform against noise in Arrecife. We are talking about a health issue, the proper rest of the residents of Arrecife, although we already see that the important thing is the economic impact. Furthermore, as was demonstrated in the recent San Ginés Festivities, this Government Group is in such a hurry to develop events that some are carried out without the relevant authorizations. We already know that for the spokesperson of the Canary Islanders; health, safety or accessibility of the streets are issues that will be discussed in another legislature.
I want to show my support to all the residents who have come together to say enough is enough and for the institutions to listen to them and take them into account. And the party can never be above mental health. I am convinced that there is another model of public management.
We are aware that this is not the management model that our city needs, and when this issue is debated in the street and in the media, the brilliant response from our lucid mayor is to affirm that "Pedro Sánchez's trips in the Falcon cost more money." Or that "it is the Socialist Party that is behind the mess." Go and find out how many residents of Arrecife agree with his project for the capital. By the time they realize it, Arrecife will have said enough is enough. And they have fewer and fewer jokers left.
