Today is April 24th. For many, just another day on the calendar. For Lanzarote, for us, certainly not. Today marks the 105th anniversary of the birth of one of the clearest minds of this island and, surely, the most capable eye to see with a different perspective.

On a day like today, 105 years ago, on the shores of the Charco de San Ginés, a pioneer was born, an artist, a revolutionary genius who with his work transformed the island where he was born and with his thought those who lived on it. César Manrique Cabrera gave the future to Lanzarote by drawing the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers on the territory that he turned into a canvas on which he unleashed his creativity.

The world has changed a lot since then. Lanzarote, his island, has written its own history having his philosophy in the north of the compass of its development. And, assuming that there have been mistakes along the way, it is also true that steps have been taken, many, to achieve the dream.

The Tourist Centers look to the future with renewed optimism. After overcoming the ups and downs generated by a pandemic that put the world tourism industry in check, we have rethought our principles and renewed our commitment to profitable and sustainable growth that Manrique bet on with the aim of increasing the degree of well-being of those who visit us and the resident population.

Return to the origin. Therein lies the key, the secret of any destination that wants to be different. To be what we were to dream what we want to be. And it is there, in our origin, where the secret of a management model lies that recovers the worker's smile to put it at the service of the tourist; that takes care of the beauty and harmony of its natural spaces for the enjoyment of the visitor; that pampers seven jewels that are transformed to the rhythm of Nature because today is never the same as yesterday in the Centers; that works to restore the pride of belonging to the population of a territory that hosts one of the largest transforming interventions of the 20th century; that takes care today to enjoy tomorrow, that protects a heritage that belongs to everyone from like hunters and that renews a gastronomic proposal based on the local product to touch the sky in La Tierra.

The Tourist Centers could not be today the greatest tourist value of Lanzarote without its workers, without that great family forged from Manrique's thinking. Dozens of men and women who promote his message every day to keep the gift he left us intact.

Today, on this 105th anniversary of the birth of César Manrique, allow me to invite you to discover the new Tourist Centers. Allow me to invite you to enjoy the unique experiences they offer; to share their history, their anecdotes and legends from the hand of their workers and to get caught up in their new gastronomic proposal. We are going to surprise you.
