The Town Council, presided over by Óscar Noda, is moving forward this week with work to improve 2.5 kilometers of agricultural roads in the Vega de Temuime in order to facilitate the entry and exit of workers in the primary sector to their farms located in this productive crop area near the town of Uga.
Yaiza invests 38,000 euros from its budget in machinery and the supply of aggregates with the expectation of completing the work next Tuesday. The Councilor for Public Works of Yaiza, Ángel Lago, who was in Temuime together with the also councilor of the southern government group, Daniel Medina, explains that "the first action being taken is to till the road surface of the paths, and then add fine aggregates, water, and compact."
With this task, adds the councilman, “we are fulfilling our commitment to the farmers after the Agriculture and Livestock area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, led by Oswaldo Betancort, ignored its promise to cover the cost of machinery services to carry out the work, and we have proof of the requests made to the Cabildo months ago and the responses from the president's right-hand man. In the last municipal plenary session, I already informed his party colleagues that in Yaiza there are many words and few deeds. The lack of repair of the sinkhole in Los Hervideros is another example of inaction.”
Just as Yaiza is acting in Temuime, it has also done so by repairing other agricultural roads in La Geria and also investing in the dirt tracks that give access to the Papagayo beaches due to the deterioration caused by the passage of vehicles. In the case of farmers, "Yaiza is addressing the demands of workers in the municipality's primary sector who have agriculture as a productive means for sale and self-consumption."
