The Yaiza government group, formed by PIL, PNL and PP, has responded to the accusations of CC, which demanded this week that a plenary agreement be rectified by which it was approved "the initiative presented by a hotel in Playa Blanca, which foresees the conditioning of a green area adjacent to an accommodation complex", as announced at the time by the City Council itself. The CC spokesperson, Leonardo Rodríguez, considered that this agreement "to transfer public land to a private company" could constitute a crime of malfeasance, since the project only has a "single report", which "is not known whether it is favorable or not".

But for the government group, Rodríguez's words "are untrue". Thus, although the City Council recognizes that "approved the urban feasibility" of intervening in this area, located in the Montaña Roja Partial Plan, to build a "small theme park", assures that "the transfer of land was not agreed". "In the plenary session of July 28, it was never agreed to transfer the plot attached to the Apartahotel Paradise Island for its recreational-sports conditioning," said the southern City Council.

However, [as La Voz published at the time->57685], what was done was to give the green light to the project presented by this hotel. And the development of that project will imply that the plot has to be transferred.

Regarding the lack of reports denounced by CC, the government group has stated that the approval of this "urban feasibility" does have "a technical report that supports it". It has even indicated that this proposal from a hotel company "already existed in the Consistory since the last legislature".

And what the government group has now defended, after receiving the accusations from CC, is that "the previous government group" already knew about this Island Paradise initiative. Thus, according to the version of the PIL, PNL and PP, all that the current government group has done "is to legally channel the proposal".

And to channel it, the feasibility of the proposal came to the plenary session, in a session that, according to CC, was convened "at night" and held the following morning at 9:00 a.m.. In addition, the initiative of the hotel company was registered in the City Council on July 27, according to Leonardo Rodríguez, and already had "a report from a municipal architect" for the plenary session the following day.

Draft the project

The steps that the Yaiza City Council must now take for this "small theme park" to be executed in Playa Blanca is to "draft the project and issue a specification of conditions so that companies that wish to compete can do so on equal terms, adjusting and following the procedures established by law".

It will be in this specification of conditions where, according to the government group, the "transfer period and the economic consideration that the City Council would receive" will be established. "It will be the time to specify the years of transfer and the fee that the local Corporation will set," he said through this statement. And the fact is that, for the moment, the project presented by this private company, and which received the green light in the plenary session, does not contemplate any type of consideration for the City Council for the transfer of public land so that these facilities can be built.

Although the government group has assured that it did not "approve the transfer of land" and that "the procedure has not even been initiated", it has acknowledged in this statement that now "the concession must be processed in accordance with the regulations on assets of Local Entities".
